Economic Development & Growth
Cairo has experienced decades of population loss, business closures, vacant properties, and declining investment. Artie will make Cairo a welcoming city for businesses, developers, entrepreneurs, investors, and community partners — with a dedicated point of contact, a "Doing Business in Cairo" resource, and active recruitment of new investment.
Transparent & Accountable Government
Residents deserve a city government that communicates clearly, listens consistently, and makes information about city operations accessible. Artie will establish consistent mayoral office hours, launch an official City website, hold quarterly town halls, and conduct an annual Citizens Assessment Survey.
Public Safety & Emergency Readiness
Cairo needs a coordinated approach to emergency preparedness, public safety resources, and response planning. Artie will develop a comprehensive City Emergency Plan with clear responsibilities, identified resource gaps, and stronger coordination across local, county, state, and federal partners.
Infrastructure & Street Improvement
Residents have experienced prolonged infrastructure work, including sewer construction. Artie will create a multi-year infrastructure strategy that connects underground work with street restoration, coordinates repaving schedules, and gives residents clear timelines.
Housing & Neighborhood Revitalization
Cairo has experienced significant housing loss, vacant properties, and reductions in available affordable housing. Artie will work with HUD, state agencies, developers, and community partners to pursue housing preservation, rehabilitation, replacement, and new development.
Growing Our Own Workforce
Major infrastructure projects can create opportunities for electricians, plumbers, welders, and highway workers. Artie will formalize a City–Shawnee Community College partnership so Cairo residents have a pathway to those good-paying jobs.
Youth & Community Investment
Cairo's future depends on giving young people opportunities to learn, participate, lead, and see a future for themselves here. Artie will build partnerships that expand youth programming, mentoring, recreation, and career exploration.
Bridge & Regional Connectivity
The Cairo–Wickliffe Bridge is critical to regional transportation and commerce. Artie will maintain an active relationship with IDOT and KYTC, monitor key project milestones, and ensure Cairo's voice stays at the table as major projects move forward.
